Mission Statement

The visual arts are one of the rich sources of God-given expression and meaning in our late twentieth century world. Through a variety of historical styles and a diversity of media in the visual arts, our culture is shared, perpetuated, and remembered. As manifestations of the human spirit, these arts are visible and tactile, sometimes also audible. They make God's world uniquely present and concretely accessible to students.

At Redeemer University College, students are trained in the history of the visual arts and in the technical skills that provide a foundation for the practice of various visual arts. Students trained in the visual arts at the university have opportunities, among others, to work as practicing artists and art teachers, or to pursue further studies in art therapy, computer-based arts, and art history or aesthetics.

"In and outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to develop an attitude to art-making that subverts the individuality of our culture."

It is significant that God made rainbows for the fallen world. God did not have to create rainbows. God could have said it black on white, “I will keep covenant with the earth.”
