Chemistry Department

Facilities

The Chemistry Department is well-equipped for the level at which the courses are offered. The emphasis in many of the labs is on small-scale experiments to reduce waste and to allow students to do more experiments.

Specialized instruments for student use include several atomic absorption spectrometers, a Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer, several UV/Vis spectrometers, a gas chromatograph, a range of ion-selective electrodes, as well as pH meters. A research lab is also available for individual or group projects

Dr. Darren Brouwer
Assistant Professor of Chemistry

“What excites me about chemistry, and science in general, is the opportunity to discover how God has structured His creation."

Redeemer gave me a good biology/chemistry basis which most environmental programs do not have. In addition, the professors provided guidance, friendship and example on how to live out your faith.
