Professor Hugh Cook - Professor (emeritus) of English

 Hugh Cook did his undergraduate studies at Calvin College in Michigan. His graduate studies were at Simon Fraser University, where he earned an M.A. in Canadian Literature, and at the Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa, where he earned an M.F.A. in fiction writing.  He taught at Dordt College for 12 years, then came to Redeemer University College, where he was one of the pioneer faculty. He is now retired. Hugh Cook has published stories in Canada’s leading literary journals, and has published three books of fiction, all published by Mosaic Press of Oakville: Cracked Wheat and Other Stories (1985), The Homecoming Man (a novel, 1989), and an award-winning book of linked stories, Home in Alfalfa (1998), which has also been adapted for stage.  the Homecoming Man was translated into Dutch under the title Een Man Komt Thuis (Boekencentrum -- Mozaiëk, 2008).  Hugh Cook gives frequent fiction readings in high schools and colleges and leads fiction writing workshops at writers' conferences.
