Study at Oxford University

If you have a desire to study history in a prestigious setting, you should consider studying abroad at Oxford University!

Since 2003, the History Department has been involved in the ABU-Oxford Study Program offered jointly by Redeemer University College and Atlantic Baptist University. Our faculty have played a role in shaping the program, particularly with regards to standards. Often, a Redeemer professor will spend several weeks visiting and teaching during the semester in England.

As the curriculum focuses on literature and history, many of the students who take advantage of this opportunity are history majors and minors. Since 2006, the History Department has offered History 270, a course specifically designed for students who are spending a semester at Oxford. Taught in the fall, this course provides an introduction to British history and culture, exposure to primary sources, an opportunity to write and present a seminar research paper, and plenty of discussion with historians who have lived and worked in Britain.
