Studies

We offer a variety of courses dealing with both western and non-western history. You can choose from a well-rounded selection of courses that cover broad topics such as Global History, Western Civilization, and Canadian History as well as more sharply defined geographic and/or thematic subjects such as the Balkans, Modern Japan, and Post-colonialism.

You also have the option of taking a history major (10 courses) or history minor (6 courses). Those with strong abilities in reading, writing, and critical thinking may opt for the history honours major (16 courses). In addition to completing a greater number of courses, honours students are required to take specialized seminars such as Historiography, a course that focuses on the philosophy and history of the discipline. As a major or an honours Major, you will also be encouraged to take advantage of Redeemer’s liberal arts & science education by completing a minor or a second major in an another discipline.

The Writing Centre is available both for students who struggle with writing and for students who want to improve already strong writing skills.
