Co-curricular Highlights

While studying political science you will have the opportunity to take on an internship with an outside organization such as the Christian Labour Association of Canada  or the Christian Reformed Church's Committee for Contact with the Government. There are also opportunities for off-campus study, with the Laurentian Leadership Centre, providing an experience in Ottawa combining learning and practical experience.

The following programs offered by the CCCU (Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities) are also approved for off-campus study:
  • American Studies Program  The ASP is an interdisciplinary, issue-oriented program that explores the meaning of the gospel for contemporary American life. The program helps ASP students leave with a deeper understanding of their place in the world as a minister of Jesus Christ.
  • Latin American Studies Program  Be on the edge of discovery as political and economic events intensify the relationship between Latin America and North America. Classroom work in the U.S. cannot compare with the opportunity to live and study in Latin America. Through homestays, field studies, and lively classroom exchanges, program participants are exposed to and encouraged to develop relationships with Latin American experts and ordinary citizens discussing how the power and influence of the United States touch virtually every sphere of their lives. They also address the causes of, and responses to poverty, racism, sexism, violence, and human rights abuse in their countries.
  • Russian Studies Program  The Russian Studies Program provides participants with the opportunity to be on the edge of discovery as political and economic events daily influence the Russia of tomorrow and her relationship with the West. The program seeks to prepare students to live out their faith in a multinational and culturally diverse world.

Jerusalem University College  Jerusalem University College, also known as the American Institute of Holy Land Studies, is an extension campus in Jerusalem for approximately 85 regionally or professionally accredited Christian universities, colleges and seminaries located throughout the world. JUC is also an independent graduate degree granting institution of higher education in Israel. Founded in 1957 as a graduate institution, the school now provides both graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to study the Christian Scriptures in the context of the land where the events occurred as well as the languages, social and political culture, religions and historical relationships of the Middle East.

No state has the capacity to ensure that men are happy; but all states have the capacity to ensure that men are unhappy. The attempt to politicize everything is the destruction of politics.
