Students planning to apply to a dental school usually take a concentration in Biology and Chemistry. This can be done by completing a major in biology or a general science group major.
To be eligible for the first year science/biology program students should complete Grade 12 university-preparation courses in the following:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Calculus
The requirements for the general science group major at Redeemer are as follows:
- Biology 121, 122; two courses from 231, 241, 252, 265; two courses from 341, 342, 362;
- Chemistry 121, 122, 263, 264;
- Physics 121 and 122.
- Cognates are Mathematics 121, 122, 201 or 215; Philosophy 342.

Acceptance into a professional or medical program is usually a competitive process. Redeemer University College encourages all students planning to pursue a career in Dentistry to attain good grades while at Redeemer. Also, students are expected to undertake their own personal research into dental schools and the requirements that will be expected. Students may also contact faculty in the Science department for advising.
