Sociology
The focus of our Sociology courses is on more than just understanding people's behaviour in social settings. You will engage in discussions, role plays and simulations not only to learn different sociological theories, but also to discover more of what it means to love those around you. You are encouraged to use this understanding in the service of others and in the development of caring communities.
Here, we recognize that we are both creatures and creators of the cultures and societies we inhabit. We have an active responsibility to understand and transform the world around us. Join us in the Sociology program at Redeemer, as we seek to discover how best to work with others and transform our society under the lordship of Christ.
Sociology/Social Work
In the Sociology/Social Work combined major, you will study elements of understanding social relationships including Sociology of crime and deviance, marriage and family, work and occupation, popular culture and urban sociology as well as approaches to intervention toward the improvement of personal functioning and social justice. Courses focus on work with individuals, family, community and groups, social welfare policy, diversity, crisis intervention, child welfare and native studies.
