:: Exam Exemptions
Only in rare situations are students allowed to switch time blocks for final exams. The final exam schedule will be released by the Registrar's Office in early October for the Fall term and early February for the Winter term. Students are required to write the examinations as scheduled and will not be granted permission to re-schedule exams unless there are one of the following conflicts:
Students with exams in three consecutive time blocks may request that one of their exams be rescheduled.
Students with more than three examinations in five consecutive time blocks may request that one of the two exams be rescheduled.
Students with two exams in the same time block must request that one of the two exams be rescheduled.
Other types of scheduling conflicts (not includig work or travel plans) may be considered on a case-by-case situation. Students who feel that they have unusual or extenuating circumstances may
write an appeal
and request that their situation be reviewed by the Academic Standards Committee. A written request mus be submitted to the Registrar
ten days after the release of the exam schedule
.
Requests for rescheduled exams based on reasons of work or travel arrangements (including purchased airline tickets) are
not
considered to be grounds for rescheduling exams. Students who need to make arrangements earlier than when the exam schedule is released are advised to book their departure dates for the day following the
end of the exam period
.
All schedule changes are made by the Registrar's Office, and must be finalized a minimum of one week before the last day of classes.
Faculty do not make exam schedule changes.
Exams rescheduled due to an approved conflict will be moved to one of two exam blocks outside of the exam block (e.g.: one of the reading days or on the day following the exam period).
Please note that all students have signed the following agreement when registering for courses:
"I understand that final exams for the fall term will be held during December 10-19, 2007, and April 15-24 for the winter term and that it is my responsibility to make myself available during these dates to write the final exams as scheduled."
