• Selena Wikkerink ’17 and Vanessa Eisses ’18
• organized two awareness weeks for
• mental health and for sexual violence,
• two difficult yet important issues
• facing Canadian university campuses.

A Year of Hope
and Reconciliation

• Students joined a month’s worth
• of events, raising campus awareness
  of Indigenous issues in Canada.

• We named Ed Bosveld '92, a dedicated advocate
• for at-risk communities, as our 2016
• Distinguished Alumni Award winner.

• Dr. David Speicher ‘03 was awarded
• a post-doctoral research fellowship
• to research infectious disease at
• St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

He has 10 research projects in 4 countries on the go
(Australia, Cambodia, Kenya and India).

• Four alumni formed Van Huizen Homes,
• a unique microcosm of their
• interdisciplinary education.

Jonathan ‘99, Julia ‘98, Isaac ‘02 and Jeanette ‘03 shared how
their education prepared them for running a business.

• Chandler Horne ‘09 is in the business of
• bike and community restoration.

Horne is a pastor at Restoration Hamilton,
a church plant in east Hamilton
that combines bike repair, cycling and ministry.

• Redeemer Bachelor of Education alumni
• welcomed their students to classrooms
• across Canada and around the globe.

Redeemer faculty awarded
federal research funding

• Dr. Kevin Vander Meulen and
• Dr. Darren Brouwer will invest NSERC
• discovery grants into original research in
  chemistry and mathematics
• over the next 5 years.

Theology Matters

• Dr. Kevin Flatt coauthored a new study about the role
  theology plays in the growth and
  decline of Canadian churches.

It sparked discussion across Christian, International
and Canadian media, from Maclean’s to Albert Mohler’s
The Briefing.

Chasing Down C.S. Lewis

• In Northern Ireland, Dr. Adam Barkman
• conducted research on
• C.S. Lewis' unpublished letters and notes.

Imitating Jesus in the Middle Ages

• Dr. Jonathan Juilfs explored
  how an ordinary 12th century woman
  ruffled feathers by following Jesus, and
• inspires us to do the same.

• Dr. Matthew Milliner, winner of
• Redeemer’s Emerging Public
• Intellectual Award, held two
• popular talks on campus about
• The Image of God in an
  Image-Driven Age.
