- Paper Application (pdf)
The Consecutive Education Program at Redeemer is 3 terms in length. Most students choose to complete the program in 2 years, with the first term being part-time over two semesters. You also have the option to complete the program in a year and a half by completing the first term at full-time status. The final year (second and third terms) must be full-time.
You will be qualified to teach in any school board in Ontario (public, separate, or independent). You will need to apply to be certified to teach in either the Primary/Junior (K - grade 6) or Junior/Intermediate (grades 4 through 10) divisions. You may only apply to either Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate. If you select Junior/Intermediate, you must present at least 6 term courses in one of the following teachable subjects:
| Dramatic Arts |
Music - Instrumental |
| English |
Music - Vocal |
| French as a 2nd Language |
Health & Physical Education |
| Geography |
Religious Education |
| History |
Science - General |
| Mathematics |
Visual Arts |
The
Department of Education strives to work with your needs in finding appropriate teaching placements. There have been placements as close as a 5-minute walk from Redeemer’s campus, to placements that are strategically arranged in student’s hometowns. At least half of the 60 days of directed teaching placements must be completed in a publicly supported school.
Currently, our program accepts approximately 30 students for the consecutive stream per year. This number varies according to the number of concurrent stream applicants, as well as to program space and number of faculty.
