Admission Requirements
If you are interested in the Consecutive Education program, you will need the following to qualify:
  • A recognized bachelor's degree from an accredited university (if you have a B.R.E. or a college degree, your option is to apply to Redeemer as a transfer student with intentions of applying to the Concurrent Program after at least one year of full time study)
  • Minimum of B- (70%) in your last 2 years of university as well as overall
  • Evidence of experience working with children
  • Psychology - 1 term course
If you do not have a course in psychology, you will be able to take one when you begin your studies at Redeemer.  Please mark this intention clearly on your application form.
 
The Application for the Bachelor of Education, Consecutive Program includes:
  • Application Form 
  • 2 written references - referees must attest to your abilities to work with children and your work experience in this area.  Referee's names should be indicated on your application and their references should be written in the style of a letter of recommendation.  References should either be sent directly to Redeemer (Attn: Recruitment) or sealed and included with your application package.
  • Personal Recommendation Form - provided in the application package, this form must be completed by an adult acquaintance who knows you well and is NOT a relative.  The recommendation must be completed by someone other than your 2 referees (above).
  • All post-secondary transcripts - must be officially sent from the institution to Redeemer (Attn: Recruitment).  Photocopies are not acceptable.  If you will be enrolled in courses when applying, send a current transcript and ensure that the final transcript is sent when all courses are complete.  Original international transcripts must be submitted along with an official English translation signed by an official translator.
  • $80 application fee
  • Personal Statement of Goals & Experience - your statement of why you want to become a teacher and what background experience you have that may be helpful for this career.  One of your personal referees must sign the Personal Statement indicating their concurrence with the description of your background and experience.
Language Requirements
Students applying to the Consecutive Bachelor of Education program must demonstrate proficiency in English by having one of the following:

TOEFL

PBT: 600

iBT: 100

iBT: A minimum score 27 speaking and writing and 22 in listening and reading, including a minimum of 5.5 on the TWE (Test of Written English).  The TOEFL score must be submitted before an admission decision will be made. TOEFL results will be sent directly to Redeemer University College if our institutional code is specified: 0907.
MELAB 90 Michigan English Language Assessment Battery - with a composite score of no less than 83.
IELTS 7.0 International Language Testing System - with a minimum band of 6.5.
CAEL 70 Canadian Academic English Language Assessment - no band less than 60.
Other   Hold a degree from an accredited English medium university in an English speaking country (i.e. Canada, U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, parts of South Africa), with a minimum 2 years of full-time studies at that university.
