Ancaster, Ontario
It was an all Royals vs Saints weekend as both men's and women's
basketball and volleyball teams squared off against St. Clair College.
The men's and women's volleyball teams traveled to Saint Clair College
on Saturday for afternoon games while the men's and women's basketball
teams were at home and welcomed the Saints.
Home gym advantage seemed to play no part in the weekend and in fact
proved to be the opposite as the Royals volleyball teams swept the
Saints in St. Clair's home gym and the Saints basketball teams were
able to knock off both Royals basketball teams on the Royals home court
Despite solid efforts by both Royals basketball teams, both St. Clair
teams were able to grab a lead and maintain it. The women's team
dropped the game 65-42 with Kristy Aloe once again leading the way for
the Lady Royals with 13 points. Veteran Natalie Dumoulin chipped in
with 11 points of her own. On the men's side, the Royals dropped 76-51
despite another 20+ point game by 4th year Jordan DeWeger with 21
points. Veteran Royal Justin Corvers put up a career game with 16
points and 18 rebounds. David Korenic had a game high 27 points for the
Saints.
Away from home, the volleyball teams took care of the Saints with the
women winning in an exciting game 3-2 (25-27, 25-21, 27-25, 22-25,
15-8) and the men swepping St. Clair 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-22). Lindsay
Klingenberg and Erika Straatsma put up 12 and 19 points for the women
and Ryan Talsma swung for 13 kills in the men's game.
Up next: The women's volleyball team and the men's basketball team are
at home Tuesday night against Lambton College. The women are up first
at 6:00pm and the men take to the court at 8:00pm.
