This course provides an introduction to Photoshop. Participants will learn how to create a file, enhance and manipulate images using a variety of tools and techniques. The main topics include file formats, resolution, colour, contrast, brightness and balance, filters, channels, curves, levels, and layers. How to gather images and integrate them with other applications will also be covered.

This is a starter workshop in the most challenging medium, but one which requires learning basics of preparing paper, laying washes, and choosing subjects that are simpler to work with in beautiful transparent colour.
ART-RSW – Realism in Sketching

This is a workshop that deals in greater detail with using drawing in graphite, charcoal and pastels to render objects and surfaces more realistically in beautiful, sensitive light and shade.
ART-EPW – Encaustic Painting Weekend Workshop

Friday, April 30 6 – 9:30pm and Saturday, May 1 10am – 4pm
Cost: $125 (includes material fees, refreshments and lunch)
Free up your brush and experiment with colour and wax. Encaustic painting is applying molten, coloured wax to various surfaces with brushes, painting irons and other electrical tools. This workshop will cover the basics of encaustic painting and will include safety procedures, slides, preparation of supports and grounds and demonstrations. Participants will learn basic techniques which include: tools and techniques for fusing, layering and scraping/scribing, building up of texture, line and edge, collage, image transfer, combining oil and encaustic, dipping, etc. This workshop is for beginners and advanced alike.
