Who is Charlotte Mason and what might she offer twenty-first century education?
The Department of Education of Redeemer University College will be hosting an education symposium featuring a panel of leading international Charlotte Mason scholars.
The focus of the symposium is to introduce teachers, principals, educational architects, pre-service teachers, home educators, parents, professors, researchers, and authors to the educational theories of Charlotte Mason, an influential late-19th century British educator, whose ideas are again resonating across the globe, and consider how her design for education may have appeal and application in 21st century K-12 education.
The presentations and discussions will be guided by the following Charlotte Mason experts:
Dr. John Thorley, UK,
Dr. Jack Beckman, USA,
Ms. Lisa Cadora, USA,
Dr. J Carroll Smith, USA
Ms. Marlene Power, Canada
Dr. Deani Van Pelt, Canada
At the symposium, the Redeemer University College Library will launch the
Charlotte Mason Digital Collection (CMDC), the premier digital version -- created through 2009 and 2010 -- of the
Charlotte Mason Collection held in the archives of
The Armitt Library and Museum in Ambleside, Cumbria, England.
The symposia offered by the Department of Education at Redeemer University College are gaining a reputation for providing informative sessions lead by engaging experts.
