Library
How can I renew my books?
There are three easy ways to renew your books!
  1. Bring your card in to the library.
  2. Call us at (905) 648-2139 ext. 4266
  3. Email renew@redeemer.ca
What do I do if Redeemer doesn't have the book I need?
Visit the Research Assistance Desk and speak with our reference staff. They will be able to help you determine whether online resources, interlibrary loans, or a trip to McMaster's library would best suit your needs.
How much are overdue fines?

Most items are $ .50 per day per item. We will not charge you more than $10 per item unless you have lost that item. Overdue fees for 2 and 24 hour reserves accrue at $ .01 per minute because of their short checkout times.

How many items can I check out?
Students can have up to 50 items at a time in their possession. This means if you have 20 books at home you can still check out 30 more. Because audio visual items are in such high demand, there is a 10 item maximum on our videos and CDs. There is also a 3 item maximum on reserve materials to ensure that everyone has access to them.

What are the admission requirements for someone coming directly from high school?

How can I apply to Redeemer?

How do I add or drop a course?
The Academic Advisors in the Registrar’s Office will be happy to help you add and drop courses. To ensure that an advisor will be available to help you when you’re at the school, please contact us to book an appointment with Linda, Jenn or Richard. While we also welcome drop-ins, we have no way of guaranteeing a short wait time or availability.

Our office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9-12 and 1-4, and Wednesday 1-4. We are closed on Wednesday mornings for staff meetings, inter-office meetings and paper work.

We’re here to help you out, so if you have checked out your options and still don’t know which ones to choose, we can give you suggestions. Also, if you want to combine two majors and a minor but have no idea how or if it fits, we’re happy to show you the steps. However, ultimately it is your program, so please do your research and come prepared.
How do I know if class is cancelled?

In the case of classes being cancelled due to professor sickness or emergency, notice will be posted on the classroom door. Students must wait fifteen minutes before leaving if an instructor fails to appear for class.

Morning Cancellation of Classes and Work due to Weather
If classes for students are cancelled or postponed due to weather conditions, Redeemer will announce this on CH TV (Channel 11), on radio stations CHML (900 AM) and CKOC (1150 AM) by 6:30 a.m. and post it on Redeemer University College’s homepage by 6:15 a.m.

Cancellation of Evening Classes and Work due to Weather
If evening classes are cancelled due to weather conditions on a day when daytime classes have been in session, Redeemer will announce this in the academic building by 3:00 p.m. and on the above TV and radio stations between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Evening instructors and employees will be called and an announcement will be put on the answering machine at 5:00 p.m. Services such as the library and athletic area will be maintained with student help.

How do I find my exam time?

Your final exam schedule can be found on the Final Exams page.

    Writing Centre
    Who uses the Writing Centre?
The Writing Centre is not intended only for foreign language learners or those who struggle with writing. Even students who typically do well on writing assignments can benefit from a review of English grammar and proper essay citation methods; every writer appreciates information, guidelines, and instruction on the difficult process of writing. Approximately 400 students per term bring their work to the Writing Centre.
Can I bring my laptop instead of a hard copy?

We do prefer to work with a paper copy, but, if necessary, you can bring your laptop.

Can I just drop my paper off and pick it up later?
No. Our goal is to help you to identify problem areas and to equip you with the knowledge you need to avoid such problems in the future. Working through a paper alongside a Writing Tutor will enable you to review your paper closely and to make changes yourself, thus strengthening your own writing skills.
What kinds of writing can we bring in for help?
You are welcome to come to the Writing Centre for advice on drafts of your book reviews, lab reports, essays, and research papers. For resumes, we recommend that you consult John Krueger, Career and Placement Coordinator, in Student Life. For advice on graduate school applications, we recommend that you seek advice from your professors.
