To apply for the awards detailed below, submit a completed Application for Scholarships & Bursaries and any required supporting documentation to the Financial Aid Office by March 31, 2012. Awards marked by an asterisk (*) require the separate Financial Aid Application to be submitted.

Students must be officially registered as an English major in the Registrar's Office to be considered for these awards.

*Department of English Bursary

Student demonstrating financial need
good GPA in English courses

Department of English Scholarship

Student entering their 3rd or 4th year
Minimum GPA of 9.0 in English courses

Hamilton Spectator Writing Excellence Award

For academic excellence in creative or expository writing

George Herbert Scholarship

Student entering their 3rd or 4th year
High GPA in English courses
Student who has made a distinguished contribution to class discussions and achieves excellence in written work

Department of English Essay Prize

Resubmit an unmarked copy of an exceptionally good essay written as part of regular course requirements to the Department Chair by the end of classes in April.

JWS Teacher Education Scholarship

Student entering their 5th year of study
Minimum CGPA of 9.0 (B+)
Must be committed to the cause of Christian day schools
Must intend to teach in an OACS, CSI or ACSI member school
Submit a statement entitled "Why I want to teach in a Christian school"
