The purpose of International Student Services is to provide on-going support to international students as they transition into community at Redeemer and to life in Canada.
Health Insurance
Students must have health insurance while studying in Canada. Redeemer offers health insurance through
StudentGuard. The cost is $594 (Canadian funds) for twelve months. Once you arrive in Canada, it is essential that you apply for this coverage immediately through Student Life.
Obtaining Student and Visitor's Visa
In order to study in Canada you must obtain a Study Permit before entering Canada. Future students should contact the nearest Canadian embassy, high commission, or consulate as soon as they receive their offer of admission. For further information see
www.cic.gc.ca.
On Campus Employment
If you are registered as a full time student at Redeemer you are able to apply for a job on campus without completing an Employment Authorization form. For more details, contact
Financial Aid. As Redeemer is a private institution, an Employment Permit is required if you wish to seek employment off campus.
Social Insurance Number
This nine-digit number is required by law in order to work in Canada. Application forms can be downloaded from
www.hrsdc.gc.ca. Students also require a letter from Redeemer stating that they have been offered a job at Redeemer. This letter can be requested from
Financial Aid.
Mosaic Club
Monthly socials are scheduled to connect students and celebrate our cultural diversity. Check out the
Activities Calendar for upcoming events.
