Redeemer University College began offering university level courses in youth ministry as part of a part-time certificate program in July 2011, which is endorsed by and was developed in collaboration with Youth Unlimited. This program is designed for youth workers and volunteers looking to develop an academic background to their skills and experiences.
This certificate was developed, in part, based on feedback from youth ministry workers within the church who have come to youth ministry through a variety of different experiences and educational paths. Many of them expressed an interest in having a certificate program available to mature students who already have some experience or hold an undergraduate degree in a different field of study. The program is designed to be flexible to the various needs of youth workers and will supplement training, build confidence and foundational knowledge, and provide refreshment and renewal.
Carefully selected course options are chosen to serve youth workers and volunteers in a way that further equips and strengthens them in their youth ministry work.
Earn the certificate:
- The Youth Ministry Certificate is composed of eight 3-credit hour university courses which can be completed over 3 years. The program is designed for mature students with existing experience in youth ministry, or those who have already obtained a post-secondary degree.
- Individual courses for refreshment or additional equipping. Many involved in youth ministry do not need a certificate, but are seeking times of refreshment, renewal and /or additional equipping. Those youth workers are invited to register for individual courses, as occasional students as space permits.
