The Position

The Residence Life Coordinator assists with the management of Redeemer’s residence life program. The RLC builds relationships with students, provides supervision for the residence life program, attends to critical situations, and promotes adherence to community expectations. The RLC seeks to encourage students’ academic, personal, and spiritual growth by facilitating co-curricular activities and assisting in the development of a safe, nurturing campus environment. On campus residency is required for this position. This role also includes overnight and weekend on-call responsibilities.

This position is full time at 37.5 hours/week depending on availability. This position requires on-campus living.

Responsibilities

In order to discharge these responsibilities in accordance with the objects and purposes of Redeemer University, the RLC must have a deep-seated personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and be thoroughly and thoughtfully committed to the Vision and Mission of Redeemer University.

Build healthy relationships with students and encourage spiritual formation, personal growth, accountability, and development and service learning through community engagement by:

  • Planning and facilitating educational and spiritual growth opportunities and programs for students.
  • Connecting with students through informal campus events such as communal meals, sports games, chapel, and other events held on campus.
  • Responding to incidents that allege violations of the Student Accountability and Conduct Code.

Provide oversight and supervision to the residence life program

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of leadership training week.
  • Meet with student residence life staff (RA/HA/RLF) on a regular basis, both in individual meetings and group meetings.
  • Provide leadership and devotional resources for students leaders in residence.

Manage conflict and provide leadership during crisis situations

  • Manage conflict situations as they arise by connecting with students and helping them to resolve the conflict utilizing restorative justice measures, if appropriate.
  • Be available to provide leadership during a crisis. This includes being generally accessible with specific on-call hours which include overnights and weekends.

Assist with the housing administration and placement process

  • Process returning student housing forms and create housing placements.
  • Communicate housing placements with returning students.
  • Assist with the incoming student housing process.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
  • Experience working with young adults.
  • Passionate commitment to the Reformed confessional tradition and ability to clearly and effectively articulate it for a multi-denominational audience.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Education, Training & Certifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous experience in Residence Life, Education, or Ministry is highly desirable.
Other Requirements
  • Understanding of Redeemer University (mission, values, and Reformed Christian identity).
  • Participate in communal activity that supports and encourages a university campus environment where the holistic development of all persons embodies Christian principles that advance the mission and Christian character of Redeemer University.
