The Position

Reporting to the Director - Campus Services, the Custodial Supervisor is responsible for custodial and housekeeping staff and student employees who clean, maintain, prepare all residences and academic buildings to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, supervises, trains staff and student staff and participates in the cleaning of the academic buildings which includes classrooms, auditorium, washrooms, athletic areas, and common areas.
  • Daily review of work orders regarding the required set-up of all classrooms, common areas, gym and auditorium for internal and external events.
  • Receive work orders for accommodation needs on campus during the academic and conference season.
  • Responsible for a team of student workers on the work study program during the academic year and custodial summer students from May-August. Interview, hire, assign work, train, and monitor students’ work.
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies, classroom supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Responsible for the janitorial budget.
  • Provide quotes and prices for items on both Rental & Conference budget and Food & Housing budget
  • Organize and supervise the recycling programs on campus
  • Maintain and operate cleaning equipment and ensure all cleaning equipment are in good repair.
  • Train staff on the proper procedures when operating equipment. This includes commercial vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, commercial sweeper vacuum, and dry vapor system.
  • Perform periodic Health and Safety checks in the academic building and in the residences.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Must be proficient in all required computer applications, including Google Suite (docs, Gmail, calendar) as well Microsoft Office, Excel and Kenetics
  • Experience working with commercial floor cleaners, commercial washers and dryers, commercial vacuums & central vacuum systems, janitorial aids, cleaning supplies, chemicals
  • Experience managing a team
  • Trained in Health and Safety procedures, in a workplace environment
