Position Description

REDEEMER UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in History beginning July 1, 2022. Candidates must be aligned with and passionate about Redeemer’s Christian mission of integrating faith in teaching and research. Candidates should possess, or be near completion of, a PhD and have a research program and accomplishments appropriate to their career stage. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching.

The successful candidate will teach interdisciplinary humanities courses in Western culture as part of Redeemer’s core program, as well as a broad range of courses in history. The ideal candidate will have the desire and expertise to teach courses in two or more of the following areas, at least one of which should be European/British or church history:

  • European and/or British history
  • Church history / history of Christianity
  • American history
  • East Asian history

Expertise and interest in teaching ancient, medieval, and/or early modern history is an asset.

Redeemer University is a liberal arts and sciences undergraduate university rooted in the Reformed tradition of Christianity and seeks candidates who are committed to teaching and pursuing scholarship within this framework.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, C.V., evidence of teaching quality, a 1-2 page statement describing their own Christian faith commitment and how it relates to Redeemer’s mission and to their teaching and perspective on the discipline, and the names of three individuals who have agreed to provide letters of reference should the applicant advance to a later stage of the process.
