The Dooyeweerd Centre is committed to ensuring that the philosophical legacy of Dutch Christian philosopher Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977) continues to exert influence in the intellectual world, and through this promotes philosophical work shaped by Christian beliefs. The Dooyeweerd Centre’s collection is housed within the Peter Turkstra Library at Redeemer University. This collection contains nearly 2000 items including 1751 books and pamphlets, 26 serial titles, and 181 archival items. The books, pamphlets and serials are accessible to students, scholars and the public, with access through the library catalogue, and the archival items can be viewed upon request at the library.

The Dooyeweerd Fellow, Dr. Harry Van Dyke, describes the purpose of the Centre:

“The Dooyeweerd Centre is a clearing house for any events, inquiries, writings, translations, etc. etc., dealing with or inspired by the philosophy known variously as PCI (the Philosophy of the Cosmonomic Idea), or Reformational Philosophy, or NeoCalvinist  Philosophy, or sometimes as the Amsterdam Philosophy.”

The Dooyeweerd Centre has three main areas of research and work:

  1. The Neo-Calvinist Bibliographic Database, with 2157 full searchable records
  2. ThinkNet Forum, a Google group forum dedicated to Dooyeweerd’s ideas
  3. The Publication Program, which is committed to making available in English the works of Dooyeweerd, including the broader dissemination of the series, The Collected Works of Herman Dooyeweerd. To date, 11 volumes have been translated and published.
