This course examines the principles and practice of wealth management, with a focus on investments and portfolio construction within the financial planning process. Students study capital markets, asset classes, portfolio theory and investment vehicles commonly used in Canadian financial planning. The course emphasizes ethical decision-making, regulatory awareness, and the integration of investment strategies with client goals across the life cycle.

Apply financial statement analysis and financial forecasting techniques. Use tools to effectively obtain and manage short-term sources of financing. Look ahead to long term investment and financing decisions that will be the focus of BUS-336, including capital budgeting.
