Redeemer will host the launch of the books of Hamilton authors Brent van Staalduinen and John Terpstra. The launch will be held on November 24 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Brent Van StaalduinenVan Staalduinen, a Redeemer alumnus, has published his first book, Saints, Unexpected. The book features fifteen-year-old Mutton, who is robbed at gunpoint while working in her mother’s Hamilton thrift store. The thief makes off with an item that Mutton knows isn’t meant for him, hurling Mutton and her family into a summer of remarkable and heartbreaking events. From fighting unscrupulous developers to first loves to the anguish that comes from never knowing what your final words to a loved one might be, Saints, Unexpected reminds us of the magic that comes with each opportunity to begin again.

John Terpstra

John Terpstra will be launching a book of prayers entitled In the Company of All, which features prayers composed for Sunday morning services at St. Cuthberts in Hamilton. These prayers are powerfully poetic and rhetorical in Terpstra’s distinctive manner, and deal with all kinds of human issues that arise in the course of living out the gospel today. Terpstra is a nationally-renowned writer and cabinetmaker who lives and works in his downtown Hamilton neighbourhood.
