In 2019, generous donor funding enabled Redeemer’s tuition and fee restructuring, which lowered its rates from nearly $17,000 to $9,800. Since more students could now afford Christian university education, enrolment grew rapidly. According to the Canadian University Survey Consortium (CUSC), the “tuition reduction [at Redeemer] has helped graduates to reduce their debt significantly at the point of graduation. In terms of future impact, [a greater] percentage of Redeemer graduates are debt free (24% in 2021 vs. 17% in 2018); and fewer of them are being prevented from receiving further education” (CUSC, 2021). Xrisa, a graduate of the Class of 2022, expressed that the lowered costs allowed her “to be able to focus on [her] studies without the burden of financial stress …”
