About

Nathan Skulstad is an artist and scholar whose work explores the intersections of the sacred and the secular. Prior to returning to Canada and joining Redeemer as a Sessional Associate Professor, he spent over seven years working at Messiah University in Pennsylvania, where he served as an Associate Professor of Film and Digital Media, helping to build programs in Film and Media Arts, as well as Digital Media. As a filmmaker, he focuses on nonfiction production practices, creating intimate portraits of human experience. His most recent documentary, Until We Have Faces, focuses on the lives of women incarcerated for life in Pennsylvania. His independent projects and collaborations have screened at festivals and art galleries internationally. He has also worked on commercial projects for organizations such as a Worldvision, A Rocha Canada, and Amnesty International. Along with his own projects, he loves to support and mentor emerging filmmakers, as they work to develop and explore the relationship between their artistic and spiritual practices.
