In Ephesians 4:1-6 there is a line, “just as you were called to one hope when you were called.” We are people of hope; we have been birthed into a new hope through the resurrection (1 Peter 3:3) and hope comes from our life experience (Romans 5:3-4).

I can’t help but think back to the parables of the hidden treasure and pearl when I reflect on hope. The characters in the parables sell everything they own so they can buy the pearl; buy the field with the treasure in it.

Are we willing to pursue hope in light of worldly circumstances? Are we willing to give up everything in pursuit of our one hope, Jesus Christ?

Because these people did.
