Dr. Hubert Krygsman, President, today announced the appointment of Mr. Fred Verwoerd as the next Vice President, Administration & Finance for Redeemer University College. Mr. Verwoerd will assume his duties at the beginning of January 2012 as Ineke VanBruinessen transitions to retirement. Mr. Verwoerd has a B.A. in Business Administration (Dordt College, 1985), and a Certified Management Accountant designation. He currently serves as the Business Manager of Hobb & Company, an accounting firm in Courtice, ON, where he has worked for the past ten years. Previously, Mr. Verwoerd owned and managed two businesses of his own, and he also has experience in human resources and in business software applications programming. His volunteer experiences reflect a strong support for the principles that guide Redeemer’s Vision, Mission, and Statement of Basis and Principles. Mr. Verwoerd has served extensively on church and Christian school boards, is a past director of the Central Ontario Christian Education Foundation and is currently a director and treasurer for the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools. “Fred demonstrates a strong Christian vision for servant-leadership, financial stewardship, and for building a culture of excellence, development, and care in the Redeemer community,” says Dr. Krygsman. “Beyond his expertise and demonstrated success in many areas of business, his excellent communication and inter-personal gifts, and his strong personal integrity, make Fred an outstanding choice to be our next Vice President, Administration & Finance.” This search was guided by a consultant and aided by a committee consisting of representatives of Redeemer’s Board of Governors, faculty and staff. “I would like to thank the team for their excellent service and advice throughout our search,” says Dr. Krygsman. “I am grateful that the process was fruitful, and above all that God has raised up a leader who can help to meet Redeemer’s current needs and to advance Redeemer’s mission in the coming years.” Redeemer congratulates Mr. Verwoerd on his appointment and wishes him and his wife well as they prepare for this next chapter in their lives. We look forward to welcoming him to our community in January.
