September 17 to 23 marked Tim Hortons’ 2018 annual Smile Cookie Week. With a Tim Hortons location on campus, Redeemer took part in this franchise-wide event during which chocolate chunk cookies with tasty blue frosting eyes and a pink frosting smile are sold for $1 each, with all of the proceeds going to a local charity.

“Like all franchise owners,” explained Doreen Gringhuis, director of campus services, “Redeemer gets to pick the charity they want to support and for the second year in a row, we chose EduDeo.”

“We are extremely thankful for being the recipients of the Smile Cookie campaign proceeds,” said Hank de Jong, executive director of EduDeo Ministries. “The timing of the campaign could not have been better with EduDeo partnering with Redeemer to host 18 international guests on campus for our first ever Global Education Summit. Our international guests not only enjoyed the cookies, they were encouraged to know of a growing support community that, with smiles on their faces, contributes to their important work of advancing Christ-centred education around the world. Thank you, Redeemer, for partnering with EduDeo Ministries.”

This year, 1,047 Smile Cookies were sold at Redeemer, totalling in at $1,047 raised for EduDeo Ministries — an increase of 30 per cent from last year!

Well done, Redeemer community!
