Dr. David Zietsma to head Marketing and Enrolment

New division to focus efforts on marketing and recruitment

The beginning of the new calendar year has brought a new structure to student recruitment and retention efforts at Redeemer. On January 1, 2015, Dr. David Zietsma assumed leadership of the newly-created Marketing and Enrolment division. As Vice President of this new division, Dr. Zietsma has responsibility for Recruitment, Communications, Financial Aid, and Marketing, as well as leadership of the Enrolment Management Team. “I am so excited that David will be leading the charge in our vitally important efforts for Marketing and Enrolment,” said President Hubert Krygsman. “He brings to this position a Diploma in Business Marketing, thorough knowledge of Redeemer’s vision and programs, the ability to tell Redeemer’s story effectively, wide familiarity with our traditional support community and potential new sources of support, strong data and analytic capabilities, and a great deal of energy.” The creation of a Marketing and Enrolment division is one of the ways Redeemer is responding to a rapidly changing post-secondary environment. “We want to be more pro-active, strategic and intentional in our recruitment and retention activities,” continues Dr. Krygsman. “By bringing these areas under one roof, we will be better able to serve students, current and potential, from both our traditional prospect base and from areas where perhaps Redeemer is not quite as well-known.” Dr. Zietsma has been a member of Redeemer’s history faculty since 2007. He has also held a variety of roles in academic administration, most recently serving as Associate Provost, Curriculum and Dean of Humanities. ”This is an exciting time for Redeemer,” said Dr. Zietsma, “and especially for our students. As we continue to build our academic program — through initiatives such as the renewal of our Core curriculum, increasing opportunities for experiential learning and launching new academic programs –our students will become even better prepared for both their career and further studies in this rapidly changing environment. I look forward to sharing these exciting developments with current and prospective students, our support community and with all those who have yet to learn about the excellent Christian university experience offered at Redeemer.” The creation of this new division is one part of Redeemer 2020, a multi-faceted strategic plan that addresses both the challenges and the opportunities of providing the next generation of students a transformative Christian university education.
