Dr. Gary Chiang will be retiring on June 30, 2018. Gary received his PhD from the University of Toronto in 1982, then spent eight years at York University working on the neuroendocrinology of crustaceans and the blood-feeding insect Rhodnius prolixus before joining Redeemer as an associate professor in 1990. Besides teaching, Gary has held various administrative positions and, along with his wife Jennifer, created a biological research program at Redeemer. He has published several papers on invertebrate physiology, which includes research at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Gary is a strong supporter of Christian education and served for two terms as board chair for Hamilton District Christian High School. He also helped to initiate and run the very successful Ontario Christian Schools Science Fair. Always interested in the relation between Christianity and biology, Gary has also published works on faith and science and is currently considered a world-leading expert on faith and science as it applies to the Shroud of Turin. Gary is looking forward to continuing his research interests in his new role as professor emeritus.
