Dr. Krygsman steps down from his role as president of Redeemer University College at the end of October, but he will not soon be forgotten. Part-time, full-time and retired faculty and staff gathered on campus in the Dining Hall on Thursday, October 13 to celebrate his over six years of service to the institution.
The event’s short program included speeches from Dr. Jim Vanderwoerd, professor of social work; Dr. Al Wolters, emeritus professor of religion and theology; and Jessica Mostert, student senate president. Dr. Krygsman was presented with a painted portrait by artist and part-time art instructor Maria Gabankova.
A piece of art by artist Floyd Elzinga was given to the president by Magda Beukes, Dr. Krygsman’s executive assistant, on behalf of faculty and staff. After some final remarks and encouragement from Dr. Krygsman, Dr. Syd Hielema offered a final blessing. The school’s concert choir, led by Dr. Chris Teeuwsen, sung a benediction.
