Golf Tournament raises $60,000

On Wednesday, July 15, 100 golfers enjoyed absolutely fabulous weather, a beautiful course and great friends at the President’s Golf Classic, celebrating 10 years of supporting Redeemer University College students. Hosted again at the beautiful Copetown Woods golf course, the tournament raised just over $60,000 in support of financial aid and scholarships for Redeemer’s students!

“This event is one of the highlights of the year for our staff,” says Elsje Zwart, Vice President Advancement. “It is so encouraging to see so many sponsors; donors and golfers support Redeemer students. It is also a great opportunity for us to spend some time with those who share our passion for Christian university education.”

As they have every year since the tournament began, Bruce Etherington & Associateswas the title sponsor of this event, and for the eighth year, London Life was the title event co-sponsor. Redeemer also thanks and acknowledges the tournament’s platinum sponsor Sodexo, its gold sponsors Shademaster Landscapes and Schilthuis Construction, and its Silver Sponsor, Reinders and Rieder. All told, more than 50 businesses and individuals contributed sponsorships or donations.

Many golfers remarked that this is one of their favourite tournaments because of the hospitality they experience. Part of that is thanks to the staff at Copetown Woods, but much of it is due to the warm welcome provided by Redeemer volunteers and tee hosts. Many faculty, staff and students, representing several different departments, spend the day on the course welcoming and providing refreshments to our guests. “It’s an honour to be able to serve those who are supporting Redeemer,” notes Zwart. “It’s a great way for us to give back!”

The 2016 President’s Golf Classic, hosted again by Copetown Woods, will be held on July 13, 2016.
