This past June, President Hubert Krygsman spoke at the seventh annual Hamilton Economic Summit — an initiative produced by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce to promote the City and its potential. Modelled on the TED Talks, the Summit included concise talks by leaders of Hamilton’s pillar institutions ranging from education and health sciences to transportation and municipal government. “Hamilton is home to our country’s most diversified economy and is routinely cited as the top place in Canada to invest,” said Chamber president and CEO Keanin Loomis. “We’re experiencing a period of growth not seen for generations. It’s time to be loud and proud about Hamilton’s strengths as a leading midsize city within one of the world’s most dynamic mega regions.” Dr. Krygsman was invited to speak at the event. In his talk, he focused on Redeemer’s place in Hamilton and the post-secondary environment in Ontario. He cited 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award winner Graham Cubitt as an example of the type of contributions Redeemer grads are making to the city and to the community.
