Hamilton’s best known referee and donor/volunteer extraordinaire, Ron Foxcroft, founder and CEO of Fox 40 International, has generously agreed to be Honorary Chair of the Field for All Seasons Campaign. The Field for All Seasons Campaign is a partnership project between Redeemer University College and Ancaster Soccer Club to address the need for soccer infrastructure in Hamilton. The $4.8 million campaign will raise the funds needed to renovate the existing Redeemer field and build a new 4-season international-sized field with field house that will allow for exponential and strategic growth in programming and provide world class facilities that will attract players and teams from across Hamilton and south west Ontario. $2.75 million is already committed. Named by Profit magazine as one of the ‘Top 10 Entrepreneurs of the Decade’, Ron Foxcroft’s acumen as a businessman and a community leader has been acknowledged over and over again. His invention, the remarkable Fox 40 pealess whistle, is a market leader in more than 140 countries. It is used officially by just about every recognized sports league there is. Currently the Fox 40 is the official whistle of the World Cup. “This project, and the partnership, is about changing the game of soccer in Hamilton,” said Jim Bethune, President, Ancaster Soccer Club. “Our community is very passionate about soccer. This new complex will help provide infrastructure desperately needed to meet the growing demand.” Currently, more than 28,000 youth are registered to play in soccer leagues across the city. In Canada, there are nearly 250,000 more players registered in soccer than hockey. “I am proud to be the Honorary Chair of the Field for All Seasons Campaign,” said Foxcroft. “I know the tremendous value of sport. Recreation leads to a lifetime of better health, self esteem, and leadership and teamwork skills. Our children and our community benefit.” BMO Financial Group agrees with Foxcroft.
