Latest Updates

Update – October 8, 2020

As construction progresses, the road and walking path at the existing three-way stop by Calvin Court will be rerouted. The path will be relocated first, followed by the addition of a lane heading south. Concrete jersey barriers will be placed along the original entrance to the parking lot to prevent entry by vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as construction moves forward.

Update – August 27, 2020

The City of Hamilton has issued a foundation permit, and construction will begin soon on the new mixed-use building, scheduled for completion by September 2021.

Much of the main, paved parking lot has been fenced off. Some accessible parking spaces will remain open against the north side of the building (by Athletics). Everyone else must park in the gravel lot and use the Campus Services entrance to the north of the quad to enter and exit the academic building. The north doors by the gymnasium should be used only by those who have parked in the accessible parking spaces nearby.

Construction traffic will initially use the main road off of Garner Road. Redeemer is working with the City to obtain permission to create a temporary access road on the east side of the building off of Garner for construction vehicles. The plan is for that road to later be upgraded to a permanent access as part of the plan to move vehicle traffic away from the centre of campus.

The first stage of the project will involve relocating some underground power and communication lines. This will result in planned outages to some student housing, much of which will happen before students move in.

Heavy construction equipment will be working on site, as well as entering and exiting. Please drive and walk with extra caution.

Check back here for more updates over the coming weeks and months.

Update – May 26, 2020

Redeemer is growing and planning to start some building projects this summer. In particular, work will begin on a new Garner Road entry on the east side of the building and a new mixed-use facility with student residences and classroom space.
