What is LAUNCH?

LAUNCH is a series of events and activities that Redeemer organizes to help students transition into life as a student at Redeemer.   These include introductions to friends, faculty, the dorms, commuting life, the city of Hamilton, and much more.  In order to make these events more exciting, students are divided into teams, with the opportunity to earn points and prizes.

What LAUNCH Team am I on?

LAUNCH teams are groups of new students organized by dorm and commuter status. You will be on a LAUNCH team with your room-mate, dorm-mates, and row-mates.  New students who are commuting to campus are on the Purple team.   See what colour your team is  below.

Team Green (Calvin Court, Dorms 2 – 5)
Team Red (Calvin Court, Dorms 8 – 11)
Team Blue (Luther Court, Dorms 14 – 17)
Team Orange (Luther Court, Dorms 20 – 23)
Team Yellow (Cranmer Court, Dorms 26 – 29)
Team Purple (Cranmer Court, Dorms 32 – 33, Commuters)

Who is my LAUNCH leader?

Returning students have specially been selected to lead six LAUNCH teams through a series of fun and informative events during the first weeks of school. Picture these people as your team captains who are veterans at university and can pass on their knowledge and experience to you.  Click here to see who your LAUNCH leaders are and read their bios.

What are LAUNCH points for and how do we earn them?

LAUNCH points are awarded to individuals and teams that participate in events, show positive team spirit, or win specific combinations.   The LAUNCH team with the most points at the end of orientation is named the winner of the prestigious Cooper Cup, and will have their name etched into the trophy along-side past winners as well as earn a team prize.  Click here to read about all the events that are part of LAUNCH and which one’s include LAUNCH points.

Who is Mission Control?

Mission Control is a group of nine returning Redeemer students who help shape the LAUNCH experience by planning and coordinating all the LAUNCH events through-out the month of September.  They are behind-the-scenes, on the stage, leading bus trips, hanging out on your dorm porch, cheering you on, and answering any questions you may have.  Click here to see who is on the Mission Control team and read their bios.

Where do I go if I have questions about Redeemer or LAUNCH?

When you have arrived at Redeemer, asking your LAUNCH Leader is a great place to start.   They have all participated in LAUNCH before and are current students of Redeemer so they know a lot.   You can also talk to a member or Mission Control.  If you have questions about LAUNCH before you arrive, simply call the First Year Experience coordinator at 905-648-2131 ext. 4289 or email Micah at mvandijk@redeemer.ca.
