Anna-Maria Roth is pursuing a degree in marketing and ministry. She is a prayer warrior who has overcome personal struggles through trusting in God and participating in Christian community.
Home Base
I was born in Kitchener and raised in New Hamburg, Ontario. I grew up in a small town and moved around a lot, but it was always within a 15-minute radius.
Major
I am a fourth-year student in the business program with a major in marketing and a minor in ministry.
Stimulating Subject Matter
Something interesting that I’ve learned at Redeemer is that dark chocolate is the real chocolate, milk isn’t a full chocolate, and white chocolate, well, that’s not even considered chocolate! But in all seriousness, I have also learned that marketing doesn’t have to be manipulative and dishonest. You can put a Christian spin on it and create positive experiences for customers and stakeholders.
Unique You
Something unique about me is that I enjoy having a wall in my room with prayers for the people I am praying for. I put all my cards, letters and photos I have with people from that year on my wall. I have had one every year since my first year of university, and I also have a prayer wall in my room at home. No matter the time of day, I can always be reminded to pray unceasingly and without doubt for those around me. It connects me to God and helps me grow closer to him.
When I felt like I had no one to rely on, my faith took me to Jesus Christ and I realized I can trust someone.
Faith Moment
An important faith moment happened back in 2016, when I struggled with mental health. God had to grab me by the heart at my lowest point to bring me back to reality. My faith became important here because God was my counsellor through the thick of things. When I felt like I had no one to rely on, my faith took me to Jesus Christ and I realized I can trust someone. Proverbs 3:5-6 was meaningful to me: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
In Conversation with Christ
When I meet Jesus face to face, I want to ask him, “How are you able to be all over the place all at once?”
Redeemer Love
There are many things I love about Redeemer: the fellowship in the community, friends that become family, the warmth of faith, prayer from teachers, the depth of conversations and the ability to walk the halls and just talk with people. I appreciate the ability to learn while staying steadfast in my faith.
