Education Department

Established in 2003, Redeemer University College’s Bachelor of Education program is making a difference in the lives of children across Canada and globally. The Redeemer B.Ed. leads to provincial certification and provides the opportunity for graduates to teach in public, independent, and separate school systems. Our unique two-year education program grows out of a Christian perspective and provides significant opportunities for learning and practicing classroom skills.

Why should you consider earning your Bachelor of Education degree at Redeemer? Here are few highlights:

Christian Worldview
One of the key aspects of the Redeemer Education Program is our Christian foundation. We view teaching as a vocation, a special calling from God, as is reflected in our Mission Statement.

Small Size
Between 60-80 students graduate from the Redeemer Education Program each year. The emphasis on small class size provides significant opportunities for the faculty to support you in your teaching pursuits.

Teacher Assisting
This pre-practicum experience provides you with an excellent understanding of the full scope of what teaching involves.

Excellent Career Placement
At the Ontario College of Teachers review in December 2007, we were able to report that more than 90% of Redeemer B.Ed graduates are receiving work positions. This outstanding achievement includes full time contract teaching positions, Long Term Occasional (LTO) and supply work.  Take a look at Careers & Graduate Opportunities for more information.

Program Options
Redeemer offers you two distinct options for your Bachelor of Education: Concurrent or Consecutive Programs.  Find out more about which program is right for you.

Visiting Opportunities
You're invited to visit Redeemer and tour the campus, meet with professors and get a feel for what it is like to be a Redeemer student.  Consecutive Education students are invited to check out the Open House Dates, while Concurrent Education students are invited to register for a Campus Visit Day.

Social Work, Sociology, Art, Education

Few people would guess that organizing a graffiti competition would be part of an education at Redeemer; but for Jimmy Bender, it included just that.

It is incredible to think how inexperienced and ill-equipped I was as a teacher before I started and how well-equipped I felt after completing the Redeemer Education program.
