Given the growing popularity of video as a means of communication, there has been significant growth in the number of studios and service providers locally. Rates among these production studios can run as high as $1000 per finished minute, as an industry standard. Given the uniqueness of The Studio’s set up as a student-run venture, and understanding that each project is customized to you, it is able offer these same services at rates up to 50 per cent of this industry standard (an estimated $400-$500) per finished minute.

While The Studio endeavours to work within your timeframe, it needs to keep in mind that students are doing the creative work on your project. To that end The Studio anticipates that, depending on the complexity and scope of your project, it can complete most within 4-6 weeks.

The purpose of The Studio is to assist you with the telling of your story through the medium of video. Your story cannot be told effectively without your input. To that end, The Studio partners with you to create a project brief that functions as a guiding document for your project. As the project progresses, you will be provided opportunities to provide feedback. In the interests of your project and to ensure that it is complete on time, a limit of two rounds of revision may be implemented.

The Studio recognizes that stories can and will vary depending on their purpose and the details that need to be shared. It can be accommodating for most projects. That being said, for your value and given the value of our student creators’ time, The Studio offers packages that begin at 2-5 finished minutes and is open to discussing with you different packages that may be longer and have differing levels of production value (services, lectures and event recordings).From short explainer videos to recording special events, The Studio assists you with telling your story in a powerful yet affordable way.  

The majority of The Studio content creators are gifted videographers and editors who are honing their craft through their studies in the Media and Communication Studies program. Each student has been selected based on their demonstrated abilities in video production and digital storytelling.

It is the objective of The Studio to provide students the opportunity to learn through the experience of using their skills and talents with real-world clients. They run the venture and complete the projects. The Studio is operated as a venture of the Innovation Centre at Redeemer. Supervision and oversight is provided by the director of the Innovation Centre.

If you have paid for it, you own it. At the completion of your project with The Studio, ownership and copyright will be yours. You will be free to distribute, publish, and disseminate your video. Any unique work created by the content creator in the process of the development of your project will remain the intellectual property of the creator.

Your final product will be provided for you in a manner that is stipulated by you. Typically, you will be provided with a link that will enable you to download your video file. If requested, we can also provide you your video project on a usb or external hard drive, provided by you, as needed.

The Studio is a fully equipped video production company. Students will have access to professional level cameras, lenses, lighting equipment as well as the latest software and editing suites to complete your project. While The Studio assumes that most projects will not require additional talent, arrangements can be made to find the required talent from within the Redeemer student body as needed.
