Move In Day

If you are a new student living in residence, then this day is planned for you! We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus and helping you settle into your new surroundings safely and comfortably. 

Various Times

New Student Move In

Throughout the day, new resident students will move into their residence halls. 

Due to COVID-19, each resident is limited to bringing two move-in helpers. Everyone is required to wear face masks both indoors and outdoors during the move-in process. This move-in process will be organized around several move-in periods. Each resident will receive specific details by August 18th about their allotted move-in time.

Parent Meeting: 12:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. As per the provincial guidelines, these meetings will be limited to 50 people/meeting. Sign up here.

6:30 p.m.

Dorm Dinners

Residents will enjoy their first meal together.

 

7:30 p.m.

Group 1: COVID-19 Orientation Session

(Auditorium & Video Overflow)

Learn about the COVID-19 Framework that will guide life at Redeemer during the upcoming term.

Group 2: Household Meetings

It’s time to learn about life in your households! Residence life staff will lead their households through an evening of connecting and activities.

It’s lunch time! New residents will gather in their households and cook lunch together.

1:30 – 5 p.m.

LAUNCH Opening Ceremonies/ Sign-Up Activities

Come with your households to celebrate the beginning of LAUNCH at the Opening Ceremonies! Join us to hear more about LAUNCH and have fun earning points for your LAUNCH team. 

Each household will be given an invitation to attend a specific Opening Ceremonies time block. While you’re not attending Opening Ceremonies, spend some time getting to know your dorm-mates at various sign-up activities around campus. 

5 p.m.

Dinner Time

It’s dinner time! New residents will gather in their households and cook supper together.

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Outdoor Movie

Sign-up to watch an outdoor movie on campus.

9:30 p.m.

Dorm Devos

It’s time to gather in households for time in the Word, for reflection and prayer.

 

Monday, September 7, 2020 (Labour Day)

It’s the most important meal of the day! Enjoy breakfast in your dorms as you prepare for the LAUNCH Olympics. 

10 a.m.

LAUNCH Olympics: Part I

For the LAUNCH Olympics, your household will be placed in one of two groups. 

Group 1: Your household will compete against another household of an opposing team in various game stations around campus. Winner of each game wins LAUNCH points for their team. Make sure that you come dressed up in your team colour and have your team cheer practiced for extra points!

Group 2: The LAUNCH team has some challenges prepared for you to complete with your households. Work with your household to complete as many in-dorm (and some out-of-dorm) challenges as you can for LAUNCH points!

Noon

Lunch

Take a break from earning all of those LAUNCH points! New residents will gather in their households and cook lunch together.

2 – 4 p.m.

LAUNCH Olympics: Part II

Now, it’s time for your groups to switch activities.

Group 1: The LAUNCH team has some challenges prepared for you to complete with your households. Work with your household to complete as many in-dorm (and some out-of-dorm) challenges as you can for LAUNCH points!

Group 2: Your household will compete against another household of an opposing team in various game stations around campus. Winner of each game wins LAUNCH points for their team. Make sure that you come dressed up in your team colour and have your team cheer practiced for extra points!

4:45 – 6 p.m.

Dinner

Can you hear the dinner bell? New residents will gather in their households and cook dinner together.

7 p.m.

Mandatory COVID Orientation Session (Returning Resident Students Only)

Learn about the COVID-19 Framework that will guide life at Redeemer during the upcoming term.

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Commuter Students (New Returning Students) – Check In

Commuters students are invited to come to the gymnasium and pick up their Check In & Welcome package. Before you arrive on campus you need to read the “A Safe Return To Campus” document that will be found on the Redeemer website by September 1. You will need to acknowledge that you have read this document

Tuesday – Evening Classes Begin
