At Redeemer, we believe that feeling a sense of belonging, being oriented to your new environment and finding ways to contribute to your community are important steps towards academic success. Our orientation program, entitled LAUNCH 2021, achieves these goals through a wide range of events that help you meet Redeemer staff and faculty, as well as your fellow students. LAUNCH also introduces you to several aspects of campus life, including the residences, commuter services, international student supports, and so much more.

Move In Day

If you are a new student living in residence, then this day is planned for you! We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus and helping you settle into your new surroundings safely and comfortably.

New Student Move In & LAUNCH HQ (Residences, Front Quad)

Throughout the day, new resident students will move into their residence halls. In addition, there will be LAUNCH HQ set up in the quad where students can learn about the upcoming LAUNCH schedule, sign this year’s banner, as well as pick up their team bandana! (If there is inclement weather, find us in the commons!)

Parent Meeting: 

Two Options: 12:30 PM or 3:30 PM. Meetings will be happening in the Auditorium. As per the provincial guidelines, these meetings will be limited to the provincial group size gathering limits.

6 p.m.

Welcome BBQ (Front Quad)

All new students, come to the Quad with your household to enjoy a celebratory BBQ dinner together. Have a chance to get to know the people that you will be living with this year!

At 1:45, your LAUNCH Leaders will meet you in front of your dorms to make sure you’re bringing your team spirit. Follow them to know where to go, and make sure to shout out your cheer for the whole campus to hear!!

This is the moment for your team to prove what you’re made of. Your team will need to overcome various challenges — competing against other teams, and showing your team spirit to earn points towards the Cooper Cup. The Final Battle will take place in the notorious mud pit.

Come check out the stores available near the Upper James and Rymal Bus Stop including Talize, a used-clothing and costume store.

This trip will also be led by experienced HSR city bus riders who can teach you what you need to know about getting around by bus. (Attendance = 5 LAUNCH points) Bring your Presto Card (bus pass).

Food Drive Pick-Up for Neighbour to Neighbour (Meadowlands Fellowship Church Parking Lot)

Come to Meadowlands Fellowship Church for FREE Pizza before we start gathering food in the Neighbourhood. Pizza will be served from 5pm – 5:30pm, and then teams will be sent out. LAUNCH Teams will be collecting food along the same route they dropped off bags on. Please wear your Redeemer t-shirt for this event. No bandanas please. If it is unsafe weather, the collection time will be moved to Saturday, September 11 at 10 AM. (Attendance = 5 LAUNCH points)

Come explore more of the Hamilton area with your dorm during this relaxing outing at the Harbour. There are plenty of parks and walking trails around so bring frisbees, footballs, cards, or anything else needed to enjoy Hamilton’s beautiful waterfront.

Meet with your team in the quad 10 minutes prior to your leaving time. If a student misses your departure time, they will have to catch the last bus at 2:30.

Redeemer is sending a bus-load of students to spend the evening beside this amazing natural wonder. There’s lots to do such as hike along the promenade, enjoy dinner near the falls, and check Clifton Hill including the go-kart track called Niagara Speedway.

Transportation is free, but make sure to bring along money for dinner and entertainment. The bus leaves the falls at 10pm to return to Redeemer.
