Many homeschool students have walked the halls of Redeemer and have proved to be some of our most successful students. We recognize your accomplishments and are excited to welcome you! It is our goal to help make your transition to university as seamless as possible. As a homeschool student, we realize your unique education requires a more specialized approach during the application process, so this information will aid you in that process and clear any obstacles you might encounter. Application Process

  1. Apply online!
    Start and submit your application online! It’s free to apply until January 31st (after which it becomes $50 to apply).
  2. Demonstrate Grade 12 equivalency
    Grade 12 equivalency can be provided through one of the following options:

    1. A self-assessed homeschool transcript filled out by parents
    2. An ACE (Accelerated Christian Education institution), Abeka or other non-Ontarian high school program that leads to an external transcript
    3. Six Grade 12 U/M courses taken in an Ontario high school or online, being shown on an Ontario High School Transcript

If applying under option 1 or 2 above, homeschool students must also complete a minimum of five academically-rigorous Grade 12 subjects including English.

Admission Requirements

The faculty, staff and students at Redeemer University constitute a Christian community called to encourage one another to lives of faithful obedience to Jesus Christ. An applicant must demonstrate a sincere interest in further discipleship in their personal Christian faith by submitting a statement of faith as part of the application.

Homeschool students will be considered for admission based upon:

  • Completion of at least five academic Grade 12 subjects including English.
  • All students must meet a minimum average of 70%
  • All program-specific requirements (as outlined on page 10 of the academic calendar) must be presented on an external transcript for admission into the program
  • The Registrar’s Office reserves the right to request additional course syllabi, sample work or course texts from applicants before making an admissions decision

Additional Program Requirements

If you know what program(s) you are interested in, make sure you read about the potential additional program requirements found on the program’s page. Biology, Chemistry and Calculus should be completed through provincial Grade 12 academic courses or equivalent, with final grades being shown on an external transcript (not traditional homeschool transcript) for admission to science programs.

Academic Grade 12 Subjects

To prepare for a strong start in university, the following academic subjects are recommended for applicants completing grade 12 though a homeschool program. English Literature is required in addition to 4 or more courses like the ones listed below:

  • English Literature (required)
  • History/Art History/World History
  • Economics
  • English Composition
  • Government
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Earth Science
  • Psychology
  • Apologetics/World Religions
  • Spanish or French (at least 3 years of language leading up to senior high school course)
  • Precalculus

Language Requirements

All students are required to be proficient in the English language.
