Overview
Social Justice is offered as a minor within the Department of Applied Social Sciences.This minor provides students with a strong foundation of social justice theory and practical application. Courses are taught from the perspective of a Reformed Christian worldview, and include topics of social movements, social welfare, and Canadian native populations. Students will have opportunity to participate in field trips to social justice-related events and organizations, and to meet community advocates, including Christian social activists. Students will also complete an internship to gain practical experience in the area of social justice. Redeemer students have completed internships with organizations including Christian Peacemaker Teams and the Mennonite Central Committee, and have found careers in social justice organizations including World Vision, the Christian Labour Association of Canada, Canadian Christian Relief and Development Association, Women’s Rural Resource Centre, YUGO Ministries, and Emmanuel International.
Requirements
Minors do not have program-specific admission requirements.
Applicants from Ontario will be considered for general undergraduate admission based on the following requirements:
- Successful completion of Grade 12U English
- Five additional Grade 12 U or M level courses
- Minimum grade average of 65%
- No O-level courses or Co-op courses used
