Art Department
Offering you the only Christian university art degree in Ontario, Redeemer strives to make room for the imagination and for the exploration of what it means to live out your passion for art and your passion for God. There are many opportunities to share your talents — as a first-year student, your art will be displayed with the work of other students. In your last year of studies as an Art major, you can decide whether you want to do a group or a solo exhibit.

As you study, you will be encouraged to develop new ways of expressing stories and ideas by professors who are committed to bringing out the best in you as an art student and as a person. Not only will you learn and develop different techniques and skills, but you will explore the historical context of visual arts. This dual emphasis on time in the studio and time in the classroom will encourage you to develop new ideas and to interact with various forms of expression that exist in our culture.

“At Redeemer I learned the tools to communicate and live out my faith in an academic setting, which is the field in which I wish to work.”

Our appreciation of a work of art should not depend on whether it happens to share our worldview. Rather, art is about a shared experience of what it means to be human.
