Executive Summary Report for the review of the Business program – 2022/2023

As part of Redeemer’s institutional quality assurance process, the School of Business faculty completed a Self‐Study Report of the School of Business programs in September 2022. A review team composed of two external and one internal reviewer performed a visit on November 18, 2022, meeting with students, faculty, and relevant support staff and senior administration. The review team submitted a final External Reviewers’ Report on January 4, 2023.

The report indicated that the School of Business strongly aligns with the mission and vision of Redeemer University and has a well integrated Reformed worldview within the curriculum. It also noted that the School of Business has highly qualified faculty that teach a wide range of content within their field and overall students show a high level of appreciation for the program and the faculty. The reviewers’ recommendations centre around the problem of hiring and keeping tenure-track faculty in an academic program where outside employment nets higher salaries than that on offer at the university. Other recommendations follow from the opportunities created by the newly expanded degree-granting opportunities in the revised Redeemer University charter, including the need to effectively market the new B.B.A. degree as well as other certifications which Redeemer’s School of Business has been granted by professional associations.  Reviewers also propose minor adjustments in program requirements and in course offerings.

Based on their Response, approved on March 1, 2023, the School of Business faculty and Redeemer administration have carefully considered the External Reviewers’ Report and prepared a concrete plan, with a timeline, to strengthen the program in response to the recommendations. This plan has been approved by the Academic Quality Assurance Committee and Redeemer’s Senate.
