Research Centres

  • Dooyeweerd Centre : The Dooyeweerd Centre for Christian Philosophy was established in 1994. The Centre's task is to make the works and insights of the noted Dutch Christian philosopher, Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977), more accessible in North America and elsewhere. Longer term goals include expanding the focus to look at the works of others in the philosophical movement with which Dooyeweerd was identified.
  • Pascal Centre:  The Advanced Centre for Advanced Studies in Faith and Science was established in 1988. Under the directorship of Wayne Norman, it specializes in studies of the interaction between religion and science from a Reformed biblical perspective. Currently, the Centre houses a bibliographic database of over 28,000 items including a research library of over 25 current periodicals, 3,500 books and 2,000 reprints as they relate to issues in religion and science.
  • Scripture and Hermeneutics Seminar : The Scripture and Hermeneutics Seminar was set up in 1998 to see what could be done to renew interpretation of the Bible as Scripture in the Academy. The Partners in the Scripture and Hermeneutics Project are Bible Society, the University of Gloucestershire (UK), Baylor University (USA), and Redeemer University College (Canada). The Seminar gathers leading Christian scholars from around the world each year at a consultation. An annual publication coming out of these is intended to play a part in renewing excitement about the Bible in the Academy and to act as a catalyst in ongoing debate concerning the meaning and relevance of Scripture.
